Inter American University of Puerto Rico (IAUPR), is a private coeducational institution of higher learning. Since its establishment in 1912, Inter American's mission has evolved around the principle of serving the local, regional and international community and offering the best educational opportunities to traditional and non - traditional students. 

Through its nine campuses and two professional schools, post secondary, undergraduate, graduate and professional programs (Law and Optometry) are offered. Currently, the educational offerings of the Institution consist of 255 programs.  The establishment of new academic programs and different and innovative learning strategies has enabled the University to address the educational needs of different student populations, including high achievers or talented students and English speaking, non-native, international and adult learners. 

The University has excelled in its social and cultural endeavors as well through the following community-service programs: Center for Education, Conservation and Interpretation of the Environment (CECIA),   School of Law Environmental Law Clinic and the Legal Assistance Clinic,   Metropolitan Campus Psychological Clinic, Optometry School Visual Assessment Clinic, the Project for Revitalizing the Social and Moral Infrastructure of Puerto Rico, the Continuing Education Program, the University Business Center and  the Small Business Development Center.   

The Ponce campus on the second largest city of the Island, is located in the southern region of  Puerto Rico. Students at the Campus can pursue undergraduate associate degrees in ten (ten) fields of study, bachelor's degrees in  thirty two (32) fields of study, including  communications, environmental sciences, business administration, international business, management, computer science, education, criminal justice,  biology and health care among others. IAUPR-PONCE offers master degrees in nine fields of study as well as  two professional certificates.  

The Bachelor of Arts Program in Communications, with a multi-disciplinary curriculum  aims to provide a theoretical and practical preparation in the areas of public relations, advertising and journalism that includes the knowledge and management of communication media. It also aims to develop administrative, research and technical skills in communications.
